Senshi Matsuri is a new event run by a bunch of local fans of Sailor Moon in the New York City area. When we first heard of it they were planning on a really small meeting room and once they realized a lot of people wanted to attend they found a new space they could rent which ended up to be the Lincoln Center Community center. Getting closer to the event date they announced they were sold out. The facilities was large enough to accommodate everyone safely. They had one panel room and used the gym/stage event space for their dealers room and all the other large events. All the panels were Sailor Moon based. The main stage had a runway show, Uncle Yo, “Cosplay Court”, a Karaoke contest called “So you want to be a Starlight”, a cosplay contest, and a dance performance. So So about a half day’s worth of programming. For a first year gathering it was surprisingly well planned out with a solid showing being specific to Sailor Moon. So hopefully next year they’ll look for slightly larger space.
